CHURCH HISTORY

Church Building-1 (1)_edited_edited.jpg

The church was founded in 1974 as Covenant Baptist Church. The church began with a hand full of people meeting in Bethesda Elementary School. The first wave of growth led the church to move into a store front facility on Pleasant Hill Road. The continued rapid growth led the members through planning and prayer to purchase the current property on Beaver Ruin Rood. The church members did most of the work and labor for the renovation of our current building.

In late 1975, the new church was dedicated, setting out to reach the Norcross community with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The name was also changed from Covenant Baptist Church to Beaver Ruin Road Baptist Church (BRRBC) after another Covenant Baptist Church opened in Lawrenceville. The church doctrine is aligned with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Through the years, BRRBC has been blessed to have visionary and anointed pastors. Dr. John Kent had the vision to build the church. Pastors Bob McKay, Carlton Bell, Bobby Moore and Dennis Corley all saw the potential of ministry in the Norcross community and led the church to grow spiritually and grow the membership. Through his vision, Pastor Al Stone guided the church to remodel the current sanctuary building and added two portable buildings for a growing congregation. Dr. Howard Ramsey served as Interim Pastor on several occasions and was instrumental in helping the leadership build a solid foundation of doctrine built on biblical principles and being led by their belief in Jesus Christ.

Pastor Mike Mendenhall’s vision helped inspire the plans for the Family Life Center. After many years of discussion, planning, preparing, prayer, fasting and perseverance, Dr Albert Cox spearheaded the construction of the Family Life Center. The new building was dedicated in November 2006 and has hosted numerous events and activities, which glorify and honor Jesus Christ. After Pastor Dr. Al Cox retired, Dr. Gregory Baker became our Pastor. After many years of dedicated service Pastor Baker left in May of 2015. In the first quarter of 2016, Dr. Johnny DiBartolo, III was our Pastor and he served about eight months.

In September 2018 Pastor Dr. Ken Ellis became our Senior Pastor and continues to serve as our Under-shepherd.
