About Our Church

Beaver Ruin Road Baptist Church (BRRBC) was founded in 1974 under the name Covenant Baptist Church. The name was changed to Beaver Ruin Road Baptist after another Covenant church opened in Lawrenceville. Dr. John Kent was the founding pastor who led the congregation during the planning and building of the sanctuary still in use today. Beaver Ruin Road Baptist Church, along with Calvary Baptist, merged from Liberty Baptist, which later came to be known as Lilburn First Baptist. BRRBC began with a handful of people meeting in Bethesda Elementary School. As growth occurred, the church moved into a storefront on Pleasant Hill Road and talk began of building a new church.

After extensive prayer and planning, property was purchased on Beaver Ruin Road and building began. Church members did much of the work and labor. In late 1975, the church was dedicated and opened to reach the Norcross community with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The church doctrine has always been Southern Baptist with the recent addition of the Missionary Baptist doctrine.

Through the years, BRRBC has been blessed to have visionary and anointed pastors. Dr. John Kent had the vision to build. Pastors Bob McKay, Carlton Bell, Bobby Moore, and Dennis Corley all saw the potential of ministry in the Norcross community and led the church to grow spiritually and numerically. Through his vision, Pastor Al Stone guided the church to remodel the current sanctuary building and added two portable buildings for a growing congregation. Dr. Howard Ramsey served as Interim Pastor on several occasions and was instrumental in helping the leadership build a solid foundation of doctrine built on biblical principles with Jesus Christ at the head. Pastor Mike Mendenhall’s vision helped inspire the plans for the Family Life Center we now occupy. After many years of discussion, planning, preparing, prayer, fasting, and perseverance, Dr. Albert Cox spearheaded the construction of the Family Life Center. The new building was dedicated in November 2006 and has hosted numerous events and activities, which glorify and honor Jesus Christ.

On August 10, 2008 the Lord sent us our current spiritual leader, Pastor Gregory V. Baker, Sr., M.Div. God is truly blessing our congregation under Pastor Baker’s leadership. We are already experiencing qualitative and quantitative growths to better serve our community for Jesus Christ.
